A Strange Freedom by Kiki Howell

"Can a witch gain her freedom to live as she chooses between Memorial Day and the Fourth of July?

A man was not exactly what Meranda was looking for when she went to her grandfather’s grave for a ritual of remembrance on Memorial Day.  However, what she thinks is a ghost in the heavy shadows of the night ends up a vampire.

When Meranda’s grandfather lay dying on a bloody battlefield in WWII, Alexander promised the man he would take care of his family if he got out of the war alive.  Even though he returned to the states a night walker, he has done his best to honor that promise from a distance.

When Meranda is hurt due to his negligence, Alexander valiantly fights his own desires for her blood to save her. Only, once she is better, their lives clash. But, using a little magic, she plans to win their war by the time the fireworks light up the sky on Independence Day."

My Blurb:

Love is the spell cast as Aaron, a Sorcerer and Myleana, a Wizard, are thrown together in an underground lab. Myleana, hired to open a magically protected box, and Aaron, hired to guard Myleana, fight to resist each others charms until they can't hold back any longer. As their romance heats up so does their job as they magical box opens when Aaron gets near.

Aarons past and future rests on this box, that is, if he and Myleana can survive long enough.

Lets Talk About It:

I was drawn right into the world and could feel the tension between Aaron and Myleana leaping off of the pages. Kiki Howell did a wonderful job of providing just enough detail to make the story come to life.

Even though there was drama and mystery in this book it was still a light read. It wasn't overly dark or drawn on. A quick book to get through and a good enough story for you to enjoy.

Aaron's story really tugged at my heart especially towards the end when he finally gets what he wants only to lose a piece of it.

If you're looking for a quick read full of drama, mystery, love and a few hot scenes.. pick this one up. It fits the bill!
