"Stories from a Lifetime carries readers through a widely diverse series of life’s peaks and valleys with poignant, clear-eyed vision and understanding that is only gradually gained across the course of a lifetime through endurance and honest appraisal of the emotional rollercoaster that we all ride.
Hugh Aaron delicately reveals the world through the innocent eyes of a young boy, through those of a soldier far from home during wartime, and those of a struggling businessman and faltering husband. He is unafraid to reveal panic beneath a façade of success, the deep and hollow sadness that may exist in an outwardly happy marriage, the yearning we feel to make a break for freedom from the rat race, the unexpected emotional responses that shift lives far beyond the expected course of events.
These stories form a welcome, and increasingly rare, honest, grounded, and beautifully written collection that will touch nerves while sympathizing with what it means to be human."

Stories From a Lifetime is exactly what the title says it is. Multiple stories told from multiple angles and points of view. Hugh Aaron opens up his life to us all and shares pieces of him and his life through the book.
Each story told, at least to me, was deeper than just the story. There was a meaning, a lesson, to be taken away.
The author did a fantastic job of making each story engaging and encouraging you to read on more and more.
One of my favorite parts of the book was in fact the opening in which I was told of a man who worked a job 9 to 5 and had the same routine day to day. Until one day when he woke up and instead of doing his normal routine he did exactly what he wanted to do. He didn't go to work, instead he turned around and went back home. His wife thought him to be sick. His boss was so worried about his not showing up as he had done every day for years called to check in on him. And this man just wanted to know what it felt like to be free to do as he wanted not what was expected.
Hits home doesn't it?
Just like so many of the stories told by Mr. Aaron you can relate to them. Or you know someone whom the story fits.
This book was a wonderful treasure, tribute, to this thing we call life.
Curling up with this book felt like sitting home with family listening to stories told from generations past.
I highly recommend that everyone pick up this book and enjoy the tales inside!
