Totem Lake had never seen the likes of the Giant Bare-Knuckle Fist-fighter Night Knuckles. The people of Totem Lake never imagined The Dark Magic that Dr. Abner had at his command. Before they were through The Hungry Dead would walk the Earth and The Old West would never be the Same. (Description by Author on Amazon)

Lets Talk About It:
This is a Zombie, Western, Dark Magic, Indian Shaman, Bare Knuckle Fighter type book. Not my usual pick of books and to be honest, I had no idea it was a Western and Indian Shaman book at all! This was my first experience into a Zombie type book and I have to say I really enjoyed it.
I loved all the aspects of this book. I liked the older feel to it. I really liked it when Buck, the heroic bar knuckle fighter, runs into Shingi, the Indian Shaman, after finding two kids poking at her with a stick. I laughed out loud during this scene, especially when Shingi ends up running and jumping into his wagon and Buck doesn't even notice it til many hours afterwards. Along all the good vs evil stuff there was a few gems of laugh out loud moments.
Dr. Abner, the Dark Magic guy, was really really creepy. I mean I felt chills in parts of the book when it was about him. He scared me just like he did the people of Totem Lake.
I totally forgot when I got to the end of the book that the 'story' was being told by someone in the story. In the beginning of the book it starts with an old man in a nursing home who wants to speak to this janitor because no one visits him and he begins this tale of Totem Lake. It wasn't until the Epilogue of the book that I remember this was how it all began.
It's a pretty short read, about 180 pages or so, but definitely a good read. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good story. This Author, B.L. Morgan, is a fantastic story teller.
In fact, shortly after I finished up Night Knuckles I got started on another of his books. This is an Author to follow and I most certainly will be.
