A Short History of a Tall Jew by Dennis Danziger

Philip Lachman is 39 and he's looking for a heart. He's searching for a second wife who is neither terrified by his teenage son who is into Communism and designer shoes nor turned off by his teenage daughter who dreams of becoming the queen of an oil-rich country. On the eve of Valentine's Day Philip announces to his custody-battle scared kids that by the following Valentine's Day he will have found his second wife, his best friend/mate for life, and a loving stepmom for them. Problem is, Philip has no leads, no numbers. Undaunted, he sets out on his quest. Any kind, caring, competent woman will do. So long as she's not an actress. But this is glittery, glamorous, how-much-money-are-you-worth L.A., and Philip, who barely ekes out a living as a public high school teacher, is in for the ride of his life. (Description by Author on Amazon)

Lets Talk About It:

This book was what I expected and not what I expected at the same time. The book started off going in one direction and ended up in another. I was expecting this humorous story of a guy looking for a wife by the next Valentines day and the first part of the book was dedicated to that then grew into dealing with the drama divorce can bring and trying to live life doing the right thing no matter how hard that may be or the troubles that come with it.

I enjoyed reading about the main character, Phillip and rooted for him through out the book. I wanted him to find love, to get back his kids and to continue to live his life the way he wanted to not succumbing to his devilish ex wifes whims.

I was happy at the end yet also left feeling as if things were a bit unsettled. I don't know if there is a plan to continue Phillips story, if so that's great and if not, well.. that's sad.

I think this book would be enjoyed by many and is worth picking up if your looking for an entertaining family drama type book.
