Welcome to the fifth edition of This & That. What's that you say? Well it's a little of this and a little of that. Who's Us? That's exactly the point of This & That. Do you know anything about the Reviewer here? Or who is that person(s) you're talking to on Facebook and Twitter? You're about to!
Hello lovelies!
So instead of telling you all about my insane life as of late.. I'd figure I'd talk about something book related that drives me crazy. HA.
This came up over the last couple weeks with friends of mine who are writes as well as people I know that are avid readers and we all came to the same conclusion. What conclusion is that? That sex scenes in books need to be handled with care or skippage can occur.
I don't usually skip parts in books but I will admit there are times, specifically when reading sex scenes (unless it's an erotica) that I will. Why's this? It adds nothing for me to the story. Ok.. maybe the first time the characters get down and dirty I may be interested.. but other than that it's overkill for me. There are exceptions of course, such as something critical being revealed or perhaps being interrupted.. but other than that I skip skip skip!
What about you? Is there anything in books that happens that will cause you to skip pages?
Until next week Ladies and Gents: Be Safe - No Paper Cuts!
Hey everyone! I hope your week was good! My week was the same. Nothing new and
exciting yet.
Well...I did actually go somewhere. A place I haven’t been. I went into a Half-Priced
Books.
I know you are wondering how I have not been in that store yet? Well, I haven’t been
buying books for 3 years. And honestly...I didn’t even know I had one that close to my
house.
It is a very cool store. A lot of stuff other than books too. I had no idea. My husband was
of course with me. And that just added to the entertainment. He is not a reader.
We were killing some time waiting and that’s how we ended up in the store. So, I looked
around at the books. He ended up looking at movies and comics. I met up with him
and I was surprised. They have records, laser discs, toy collectibles, video games and
computer software. Neat. Kind of like EBay but in person.
So, we still had some time to kill. My husband follows me around to the books. He of
course wanted to know where the “naughty” ones were. He zoned in on some erotic
fiction and of course he started reading aloud like an eight year old. I mean honestly...I
can’t take him anywhere. LOL. I did laugh though. I mean it was funny.
So, I am sure you all have been to Half-Priced Books. But, if you haven’t and
you have one near you. Check it out. A lot of cool stuff. And a LOT of books. All
kinds...Hardbacks...Paperbacks...Comics…Graphic Novels...even stationary. Books are
half off the retail price. A great way to add to your collection without going broke.
Sadly… I did not buy anything...joys of no job…but that’s OK. I have PLENTY to read
here. But, when I do have some extra money…I may have to stop in and buy some
more books!
Have a great week! May the force be with you!
Stay Tuned each Sunday for a dose of This & That!
