Split by J.J. Westendarp

Split (The Eternal War (Shorts))

"Erika kills vampires, but not in the usual manner. Her way leaves a body behind, the demon cleansed from the vessel it tried to control. Mitch is a Hunter and Erika's trainer. However, Mitch is ever the traditionalist and focuses more on the physical training and not on Erika's unique ability. Adonis has no qualms about training Erika to use her ability. As long as she uses it to achieve his goals.

Buffalo, New York is a long way from Dallas, where the events surrounding the Spiral X nightclub are fading from memory, but the Eternal War knows no boundaries, and battles aren't always won with a stake to the heart."

1000 + Books to Read Rating:

Erika has a gift. A special gift that is deadly to Vampires. Her friend, Mitch, is training her on how to defend herself against Vampires since her Gift and its powers are a mystery to her. Mitch introduces her to Adonis who is brought in on her training to help her harness her powers and learn to use them. Little does Erika know how much her gift will end up costing her in the end.
J.J. Westendarp did it again. In this very short novelette he some how manages to put together a great story with characters that pull you right into their world.

His writing captures you from the first page and doesn't let you go well after you've read the final chapter. I, for one, can't stop thinking about whats next and can hardly wait until another book comes out.

Great write-up. Means I'll add this to my "must be read" slush pile. :-)
