Welcome to the another edition of This & That. What's that you say? Well it's a little of this and a little of that. Who's Us? That's exactly the point of This & That. Do you know anything about the Reviewer here? Or who is that person(s) you're talking to on Facebook and Twitter? You're about to!

Happy Weekend everyone!

So I go back to work on Tuesday. I've been on a 5 week medical leave from work and I've got to say.. I'm excited and nervous. I didn't leave work on a positive note and I'm not exactly all better in any way so it's going to be a very.. interesting.. experience. I hope it's not as bad as I'm imagining it to be!

On brighter news.. I've been on a spending spree. I've been hoarding giftcards for the last year or so had a total of $415 to spend at various stores. Yesterday I went out and stumbled upon this:

and you KNOW I had to buy it! LOL. It actually smells rather good. I don't know why but lately I've really been into smells. It's odd because usually I'm not a perfume person. But all of a sudden I've gotten 3 new perfumes and various shower gels that all smell like yummy heaven. I even went as far as to get sugar cookie candles and oils. Needless to say my house and I smell GOOD!

Sugar cookies and Vampires. Whodathunk it?

Until next week Ladies and Gents: Be Safe - No Paper Cuts!

Hey everyone! How was your week? Nothing new and exciting yet over here. The usual, reading, writing, job searching and some couch potato moments. OK. Maybe more than some moments. LOL

I’ve been debating what to start reading next. I am leaning towards Bag of Bones by Stephen King. It is going to be a mini-series on A & E, I believe in November or December. I try to, if possible, to read the book before the movies or shows.

But, that gets harder and harder to do, it seems like books are being made into movies and TV shows left and right.

And unfortunately, more times than not, I have seen the movie or show before the book. I still read the books when I can.

I don’t believe it is fair to compare the books to the screen versions. They are two entirely different creative mediums. I know that people were fuming about Tom Hanks playing Robert Langdon in Dan Brown’s books The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. I loved him in it.

I do understand though people not liking an actor in the role because we have a specific person in our mind when we read the book. Authors too. They probably have someone in mind as they develop a character.

It is well-known that Anne Rice was not crazy about Tom Cruise playing Lestat in Interview with the Vampire. She apologized later. She just had written the character with Rutger Hauer in mind.

It’s like Twilight. It might be because I do not like Edward or Bella in the books. I know you are probably cursing me right now. But, I really don’t. I love Jacob and I love the Cullens. Edward and Bella in the movies are worse than book.

Sookie, Bill & Eric in True Blood show? Not what I had in mind either.

But, that is to not knock any of these actors. They are good. It’s just I have a mental picture of character as I read. And I really shouldn’t compare the book to the movie/show because they are different. I need to learn to appreciate the book for the book and the movie/show for the movie/show.

It’s difficult to do though.

How about all of you? Any thoughts?

May the force be with you...next week guys and dolls!
