The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer

Kind of funny.. reading another book by the author who started my interest in the vampire/paranormal genre. It was like.. coming back home many years later after having lived other places and seeing the home in new eyes.

I did enjoy the book very much. Stephenie's style of writing is a lot different than many other authors (that I've read) and that can be both a breath of fresh air and confusing all at the same time. Enough about writing, writing styles and such (I'll explain in another post soon why I say this) and on to the actual book.

It was really nice to be able to revisit the Twilight saga and this was a different book than I was expecting. I assumed I would have a lot more of the main characters from the first 4 books than I did. Instead it focused on new/little characters from the previous book. It was nice to get a chance to read about the other side. I found that I really didn't get a chance to connect with the character, Bree, as much as I was able to with the other characters previously. I think that is in large part due to this being such a short book compared to the others and that didn't leave a lot of time to know her instead it focused on what was going on.

"Fans of The Twilight Saga will be enthralled by this riveting story of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse, and the darker side of the newborn vampire world she inhabits. In another irresistible combination of danger, mystery, and romance, Stephenie Meyer tells the devastating story of Bree and the newborn army as they prepare to close in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, following their encounter to its unforgettable conclusion."

It grabbed ahold of me just as the Twilight books did to begin with. I hope Stephenie continues to write more about this world.. I'd even love a Volturi book!
